Reviews

Watchmen
The review starts off with a negative tone and starts to drift off topic. As the review proceeds it starts to get better talking more about the book. The review is too lengthy and could have easily been shortened. If the author had focused on the book it self it would have been shorter and more enjoyable.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner ofAzkaban
This review focuses on how the movie did not follow a strick interpritaion of the book. They fail to take the movie for what it is and not as an adaptation of a book.
For my spring break i didn't go anywere but i had 3 track meets, I beat my personal recored in discus and shot put. My farthest for shotput is 37' and for discus its 115'.
The reasoning of the poem was vaige to me. It seems that the poet is reflecting on his live but the feeling of doing so is making him physicly sick. He is probebly an elderly man becoming more and more aware of his own mortality and he finds it hard to do so.
The notion that the earth is round is ludicrous. If the earth is round then why doesn’t all the water fall off, if you pour water on a bowling ball it falls off but if you pour it into a baking sheet it stays there. And if the earth spins and is round you would get sooooooooooooooooooo dizzy.  If the earth is round then why is my floor flat, if the earth is round then my floor should be round, you can’t explain that. If the world was round then why do airplanes fly straight not down. If the earth is spinning then why when you jump  why do you land in the same place.  So take that silly science people.

story responses

The Little Girl and the Wolf
This story was very strange, it started out similar to the normal story of little red riding hood but then ended abruptly and violently. It seems to poke fun at the fact that you can't trick little girls anymore and how a little girl would never mistake her grandmother for a wolf.
The Bear
This story seems to take a real life situation but replace the persons in the story with bears. I like how at the beginning it seems like just another story of a bear that has human traits but then goes to a dark strange subject then at the end is very confusing.

The Birds and the Foxes

I liked this story because it show things that are strange but when you really thing about it our government does this all the time. The foxes wanted to kill the birds but when they ended up just letting them go they called it liberating.

I Believe in Chaos

In this passage the writer talks about the chaos theory and that he uses it to explain things. I feel as this man feels, there is now huge plan for all of us and that god doesn't pick who gets what. He then tells the story of his daughter who was born with Cystic Fibrosis, I like the way he says that there was no devine reasoning for there daughter to be born with this disease and that god did not do this to test him and his wife but because of biology this girl just happened to be born this way.

Doubting Is the Way to Certainty

I agree with this passage so much that it is shocking for me to find out that i didn't write it myself. The idea that without doubt there would be social progress is so clear and obvious to me it is mind blowing that some people see doubt as sin. If people didn't doubt what others told them the earth would still be flat and the United States wouldn't exist. Having "faith" is just beliving in something with noevidance, so should we praise people with "faith" or should we say that it is unintelligent to just blindly accept things as we are told.

Created in God’s Image

This may have been the worst thing I have ever read. The things this man said in the passage are what i would say illogical. First he talks about the idea the we are created in gods image. He then talks about how in the declaration of indipendance it states that all men are created equal, eventough al of the men who wrote that were white slave owners who when they wrote the constitiution gave no freedoms to slaves or women, which would be odd for a group of people who think that all men are created equal.

Our Place in the Cosmos

I enjoed this passage a lot becuase it takes the i

1. The strong parts of the essay was how detailed the descriptions of the events were because they kept the story from being boring.
2. The only improvement could be the use of some dialogue.
3. The use of metaphors
4. The description of the events right after he broke his arm.

Thursday, January 26, 2012

1. My narrative invites readers by giving information about myself that is relevant to the story.
2. I related events in sequence by giving detail before every major event.
3. I gave detailed descriptions of people places and things by giving details that were relevant to the story.
4. Toward  the end of my narrative there is a huge contrast in plot were the story elevates it to a more intense level.
5. My narrative it written from my point of view.
6. My narrative doesn't really connection between past events, people, or places and the present, that is defiantly some thing i need to add.
7. Everything in my story points to one main idea, at the beginning things that seem pointless come back at the end to have great importance.

Helen Keller Narrative

1. What did you think of this narrative?
I enjoyed it because it showed the struggle that she had learning such basic things that we take for granted.
2. What was most interesting or engaging about it?

The way that her teacher taught helen words.
3. What surprised you?
It suprised me that helen was able to learn so fast.

4. Did this change your outlook on Helen Keller at all? Why or why not?
Not realy because i already knew a lot about her.
5. Copy and paste three examples of vivid detail and imagery that helped enhance the story

1 "tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen?"
2 "sun penetrated the mass of honeysuckle that covered the porch, and fell on my upturned face. "
3 "That living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, set it free! There were barriers still, it is true, but barriers that could in time be swept away."
6. How can a narrative be more engaging than something like a biography? Why is it important to get someone's personal perspective?

A narrative gives the opinions of the person which alows you to feel what the person was feeling in the story.
7. Make a bulltted lists of some things you could write a narrative about

-skiing
-friends
-sports
-family storys
I Am From Poem
I am from small towns
but big adventures
I am from time outdoors
and crystal lake shores
Camping at Deer Creek with my family
cold nights in small tents
but warn fires to wake up to
fire made breakfast to start the day
give us energy to swim in the bay

I am from cold white ski slopes
slicing through snow with professional hopes
cold days riding on the hills
sipping hot chocolate to banish the chills

I from long airplane rides
sleeping and dreaming of Califrnia tides
spending all day on the beaches
and spending all night in citys.
